The reality and the Universe are two separate things contained within one another. The universe, as defined, is made up of space and time, and reality is composed of the logical laws that govern these things. One such law of reality is that paradoxes do not exist. The paradox is something that is based off logic which violates the logical laws of reality. Another Universe (Be anything for that matter, say God) cannot by definition, exist out of reality because the reality is existence. To be outside reality is to be non-existent and to be inside it is to be bound by the laws of reality.
The reason this distinction is being made is not to target any aspect of the community but merely to stimulate the thought that “Universe is an implication of reality.”
This article is based on the illusions because it’s interesting to attempt and classify the illusions that stand between us and the presupposed radiant truth. Before I begin, I would like to share a piece of poetry, from Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov. It goes like this:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .and that rare phenomenon
The iridule – when, beautiful, and strange,
In a bright sky above a mountain range
One opal cloudlet in an oval form
Reflects the rainbow of a thunderstorm
Which in a distant valley has been staged –
For we are most artistically caged.
Now, starting with the word ‘iridule,’ you wouldn’t find this word in any dictionary. We all can sense that it perfectly describes the phenomenon. We’re in the realm of mirage, and nature as the mirage and the mirrored labyrinth. The main point, of this article, is the last line, being ‘artistically caged,’ is where psychedelics comes in as it allows one to pierce beyond the veil of cultural illusion and the linguistic momentum of what has been handed on. The faith of psychedelics is that the act of magic can overcome the ugly intransigent appearance of the world.
The precondition for magic is the reversal of causality. In this modern world, we are driven by the blind momentum of atomic structure. But actually what we’re dealing with here are the patterns and then the intermediate dimension between patterns. It is in these interstices of reality a person can establish himself/herself and model back the world.
These Illusions/Delusions in our society include sexism, racism, egotism, xenophobia, and mainly class-ism. The society is riddled and ruled by these illusions, and no one is free from them.
“In a world where education is predominantly verbal, highly educated people find it all but impossible to pay serious attention to anything but words and notions. There is always money, for there are always doctrines in, the learned foolery of research into what, for scholars, is the all-important problem: Who influenced whom to say what when? Even in this age of technology the verbal humanities are honored. The non-verbal humanities, the arts of being directly aware of the given facts of our existence, are almost entirely ignored.”
― Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception & Heaven and Hell
The psychedelic illusion is a bit different from the ontological illusions. By illusion what I mean is the confrontation of the phenomena and the subjective ground as a rational observer with more amount of ambiguity.
During this period, the flow of consciousness, clear, and intense, is interfered by fleeting attempts to rationalize and interpret. At this state, the typical game-playing ego is not functioning efficiently. Thus, on the one hand, it results in the unlimited possibilities of delightful, intellectual, and emotional novelties if one floats with the current. On the contrary, if one tries to impose his will on the experience, it results in the fearful ambuscades of confusion and terror.
The key to the experience is inaction: passive integration with all that occurs around you. But, if you try to impose your will and seek explanations, you will get caught in a hallucinatory whirlpool.
One cannot predict what visions will occur, nor their sequence. One can only urge the participants to shut the mouth, breathe through the nose, and turn off the fidgety, rationalizing mind. But only the experienced person of mystical bent can do this (and thus remain in serene enlightenment). The inexperienced person will be confused, or worse, panicky: the intellectual struggle to control the ocean. The motto thus being: Peace & acceptance. You are temporarily removed from the world of game. Enjoy it.
The importance of these family of psychedelic illusions is that they propel the entire issue of illusion to the center stage demonstrating that the bedrock of ordinary perception is no bedrock at all. It shows us that mind is a kind of iridescence on metabolism.
But, we are blinded by the illusions of materialism, the illusion of business, the illusion of institutions guiding us to reasonable destinies. If we can cut through all that, and disabuse ourselves, we are empowered and can stand up in our social and political situations and say Bullshit! That’s Bullshit!
If you could expand your consciousness you could see through all the bullshit the authority figures are shoveling into societies.
And this is worth considering doing, because we have an imperiled world in our hands, and we have been the victims of illusion for a long time.
